They got again under sail August 2, with-a lange cargo of fowls, lean goats, and monkeys, which the people contrived to procure for old shirts, jackets, and other articles ofthe hke kind. The intolerable heat and almost incessant rain very soon affected their health, and the men began to falldown in fevers, notwithstanding all the commodore's attention and diligence to make them shift themselves before they slept, when they were wet.
