Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Some Side-Lights on the Oxford Movement
Certainly what we were taught at home was not the same religion as that which was preached by Mr. Robbins and the majority of the clergy at that time, and we were week after week much diverted by the anti-puseyite discourses we had to listen to. As a sort of protest we used to be taken on Saints' days to a church some three miles distant where good Church doctrines were preached. These festivals occur about once a month in the Anglican calendar, and we used to like them very much. My mother's observance of them was considered a very bad sign by Mr. Robbins and his curate.
