Excerpt from Bulletin of the United States Museum, Vol. 38: Contribution Towards a Monograph of the Insects of the Lepipopterous Family Nucuidæ of Temperate North America Revision of the Species of the Genus Agrotis
Sir: I have the honor to transmit the accompanying paper, which was largely prepared by Professor Smith while associated with me, and was, in fact, begun with the intention of publishing a conjoint and complete monograph. My time having been too much occupied other wise, the original plan was abandoned, and I turned the matter all over to him when he left the Museum with the understanding that he would finish individually the synoptic and descriptive parts. The result is the present paper, and I strongly recommend that it be published as a Bulletin of the Museum.
