I think that the conditions to which I have referred as antecedent to an appeal to wider interests have been reasonably met. I see no reason why the college is not now justified in calling upon its larger constit uency for the broadening and deepening of its plans. In illustration, I refer to the present attitude of the state of New Hampshire to the college. Since 1893 the state has made an annual appropriation to the college amounting, since 1903, to a year.
