Eine besondere Bedeutung fur die Gegend von Meifsen besafs eine alte Feste, welche in einiger Nahe von der Stadt lag und in des Oosmas von Prag Chronica Boe morum (mon. Gem. Ss. IX) an drei Stellen zur Er wahnung kommt, das verschollene Gvozdec (spr. Gwos dez), uber dessen Ortlichkeit bisher nur ganz unsichere Vermutungen aufgestellt worden sind; die nachfolgende Darlegung soll die noch offene Frage zu einem hoffent lich befriedigenden Abschlu bringen.
