By request most of the important brick manufacturers sent samples of clay to the Survey laboratory for examina tion. Chemical analyses have been made of nearly all the samples thus obtained, although a lack of time and equip ment has necessitated the postponement of the physical and other tests until the present time. These tests are now being made and the results will be published in the second part of the report.
