A final check of motor vehicles showed more than 26 and a half million were registered in 1929. Many of these vehicles are on famns and that accounts for part of the tax money, paid.by the farmers. The increase was 8 per cent over 1928, and collected fees for 1929 amounted to more than 347 million dollars. It is gratifying to know that 323 o the 347 million in auto license fees was applied to highway purposes.
