Excerpt from A Small Public Library: Thesis for Degree of Bachelor of Science in Architecture, College of Engineering, University of Illinois, Presented June 1911
This library is to be erected by a city of fifty thous and inhabitants, and is to be open to the public.
The building is to face the south, and is to be located in a section or a park which is bounded by streets, radiating at forty five degrees from a line due north.
The building is to be made the principal feature in the park, and the terraces, walks, and drives are to be made an orna mental addition to the building.
The style of architecture used may be chosen by the de signer, but the outline of the building must be made in keeping 'with grounds.
