Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from A Practical Treatise on Warming Buildings by Hot Water, Steam, and Hot Air: On Ventilation, and the Various Methods of Distributing Artificial Heat, and Their Effects on Animal and Vegetable Physiology
The great object which has been kept in this work has been to render the subject as simple and as practical as possible; and with this view many things have been thrown into notes, which might otherwise have properly formed a portion of the text. But by this means the work is rendered more useful to practical men, who require only simple facts in the most concise form; while for those who desire further to in vestigate the subject, the copious references given in the notes will facilitate their inquiries, and enable them to test the correctness of the reason ing on which the conclusions are founded.
