The most important piece of educational legislation of the Prov ince of Ontario during the past two years was the teachers' and ih spectors' superannuation act. Its main provisions are as follows (1) The assessment of 2% per cent upon the salaries of teachers and inspectors with an equal sum contributed by the Province, the said payments to be deducted from the legislative school grants and to be placed to the credit of the superannuation fund, and to be de ducted finally from the individual salaries; (2) pensions based on length of service and amount of salary, the minimum being $365, and the maximum $1 000 per annum, with the requirement of a mini mum of 30 years experience or 15 years if retirement is caused by ill health; (3) a controlling board composed of an actuary, two other persons appointed by the minister of public instruction, and two teachers or inspectors, active members of the Ontario Educa tional Associaton and regularly elected by that body.
