Publisher's Synopsis

This bibliography brings together a wide variety of materials relevant to the study of political elites, drawn from the literature in anthropology, sociology, political science, history, economics, social psychology, psychology, psychiatry and the humanities. The authors searched over 100 English language social science journals from 1945 to 1966 as well as books and monographs for relevant studies. The materials are arranged by key word. Subject area indicators were added and used to index each item, and each item is coded to indicate its relevance to one or more of seven fields of analysis: the general theory of elites, the methodology of elite studies, elite structure and composition, elite-elite relationships, elite-mass relationships, elite perceptions and norms, and definitions of eliteness.
