Am auffalligsten ist von jeher die Bogenreihe der ostasiatischen lnseln gewesen; sie leitet im Norden nach Amerika hinuber und umgurtaet noch weit im Sudosten in den Philippinen, Molukken und Sunda-lnseln das asiatische Festland. Hier haben wir jedoch keine fortlaufende, sondern eine unterbrochene Kettungsreihe vor uns, da zwischen Formosa und den Philippinen kein Anschlu erkennbar ist und es scheint, als ob hier eine Reihe ihr Ende erreicht habe und eine andere beginne.
