Excerpt from The Fruit Situation: January 1947
Prices for grapefruit and oranges at terminal auction markets at the beginning of the season last fall were generally at or above the levels of a year earlier. But as soon as the markets became well supplied with the fruit, prices dropped sharply to levels lower than last season. Lemon price changes have been similar to those of other citrus-high at the beginning of the' season, followed by a sharp drop as marketings of the new cr0p gained volume.
