A larger number of hogs over 6 months of age, including, brood sows and gilt's, on December 1. This year than last is shown by the survey when the number of such hogs per farm this year is compared with corresponding figures from the December survey last year. For the North Central States the increase was about which corresponds rather closely with the increase in the spring pig crop shown by the survey of last June.
The accompanying table shows by States and grand divisions. The percentage changes from last year for the various items and the average number of pigs saved per litter this year and last.
