Passing from the Menagerie towards the Lake, in a retired i'olitary walk on the left, is the Temple of the god Pan, of the monopteros kind; but clofed on the fide towards the thicket, in order to make it ferve for a feat. It is of the Doric order the profile imitated from that of the Theatre of Marcellus at Rome, and the metopes enriched with cx-fculls and pateras. It was built by me in the year I 758. Its plan and elevation are in the thirteenth plate.
