Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Leicestershire Parish Registers, Vol. 1: Marriages
The present volume is the first of a series which the Editors hope will be continued until all the Parish Registers of Leicestershire have been printed. In the neighbouring county of Nottingham a similar series was begun eleven years ago, with the result that at the present time the ancient registers of over one hundred parishes, or half the entire county, have been transcribed, and most of them printed.
In the absence of a native enthusiast, Mr. Blagg, who has been working on the Nottinghamshire series since its commencement, consented to assist in editing the first of the Leicestershire volumes, but his time is much occupied in his own county, and he has only done this in order to start the series in Leicestershire, with the hope that some local worker will come forward and take charge of the succeeding volumes.
