Le jade blanc ou blanc rosé est de provenance chinoise; le jade vert vient surtout des Indes. On a donné au jade les noms de pierre des Amazones et, au moyen âge, de pierre néphrétique. On prétendait qu'il guérissait les coliques et les maux de reins.
