I hesitated a long time there are already available a number of works on the same subject - but at last I yielded. Here it is.
This text is primari intended as a reader, written in correct, idiomatic French; but in the last few years there has been a marked tendency towards the teaching of the spoken language in French, German, and Spanish. It seemed, therefore, that a book dealing with France and the French would be incomplete if conversational exercises were omitted. Hence they have been added.
