Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Poems and Songs
At the foot of page 1 23, I have credited Burns as being the author of that telling song Such a parcel of rogues in a Nation, but I have since discovered that it first appeared in 17 01 - (long before he was born). It is in the Illustrated Book of Scottish Songs, from the Sixteenth to the Nineteenth Century, as anonymous, and was written on occasion of the Union between England and Scotland.
