Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Horticultural Register and Gardener's Magazine, Vol. 1: January 1, 1835
Cultivators, generally speaking, in this country, do not seem to be aware of the importance of cultivating the best varieties of fruit. They generally consider the article as a mere luxury, and, therefore, give but little attention to its culture. But though fruit is not indis pensable to the support of human existence, and life may be sustained on aliment less palatable and less wholesome, it is, nevertheless, a very useful article, and one of the best' gifts of Providence to the human being.
