Publisher's Synopsis
Arkady Renko, formerly a senior investigator in the Moscow prosecutor's office, is appointed by the Polar Star's captain to investigate a death. While other officers hijack the inquiry and put through a neat suicide verdict, Renko pursues his lonely search.
