Vocabulary is critical to a child's success for these reasons: Vocabulary growth is directly related to school achievement. The size of a child's vocabulary in kindergarten predicts the ability to learn to read.
This book was created to help teachers/parents know which spelling words should be taught to kids in kindergarten to grades 1-5. The list contains 700 words that account for 80 percent of the words children use in their writing - the ones they need to be able to spell correctly.
