Publisher's Synopsis
It is a fact that, if you know the 5000 most common words in German, you will never have any problems with words again.
However, getting to know 5000 words as a non-native speaker of German is not trivial at all. It would take you many months, if not years, to do it the conventional way, and that would not be practical at all. This book provides a different method to achieve the same goal, in a way that will take far less time - in fact, it will take an order of magnitude less time than the conventional (and less effective) method. If you want to get to the next level as a German speaker or writer, you have come to the right place! The structure of a set of multiple choice questions designed to reinforce knowledge of a huge body of information is always interesting. First, the question has to be easy to understand. Next, the options have to be carefully chosen. A third of them should be such that anyone with even a rudimentary knowledge of the subject is able to eliminate them from serious consideration. Half of them should be very close to the actual answer, with one in particular being a plausible choice that most respondents will make. Finally, the answer should be fairly easy to guess in the first few questions in any chapter, but should become progressively better hidden as you progress through a series of questions. All these principles have been followed while constructing the thousands of German vocabulary and grammar exercises in this mammoth language learner's companion. I have tried to make it as modular as possible, so that you can pick up any chapter at random and start solving problems, based on your initial skill level. I have also provided quantity in addition to quality, so that you can be sure of never running out of content even if you use the book every day for the next six months.By the time you come to the end of the book, you will have mastered thousands of new useful words; your brain would also have had a thorough workout, and you will feel mentally stronger and more refreshed.
