When 269's older sister is dragged to the breeding room and the corpse of her mother is hauled out shortly thereafter, she decides she must escape before she suffers the same fate.
763 begs to be taken along, claiming she'll be safer in the unknown world beyond their familiar blood-stained walls than she'll ever be in her cell. Forced to fight the only guard who's ever shown them any kindness, they finally escape to freedom.
Refusing to allow the prisoners to escape unscathed, their captors give chase. In a desperate attempt to throw their attackers off course, 269 and 763 split up and sprint deeper into the thick woods surrounding their former prison.
Back at the penitentiary, 667 grieves her older sister's suicide and the murder of her mother. Fueled by rage, she inspires her fellow captives to revolt and devise an escape plan, but when her last remaining relative is dragged to the kill line, she's forced to choose between freedom and saving the only person she has left.
