1916: Uncanny Carnival is a six-volume narrative touching on some of the events and notable people of that year, largely focused on the First World War. Its title is based on a line from a late-1916 newspaper article. The first volume, Sun for our Friend, follows the war's military leaders as they develop and implement their plans. It also spotlights the global course of the war and other developments in politics, art, literature and science.
