The 11 plus examination, in all formats especially CEM, requires a high level and varied vocabulary for success. This book uses 500 colour pictures to illustrate definitions. Visualizing a word helps to put the word into context and aids the child to keep the word in their long term memory. ANSWERS INCLUDED How to use the book Each page has nine words along with nine pictures and 12 boxes to write the key words in. The bottom three words on each page are alternative meanings of some of the words without illustration. Ask your child to attempt the page to assess their baseline knowledge and then use a dictionary or the answers to help complete the table. Highlight or note down the words that the child is unfamiliar with and revise these at a later date to aid long term memorisation of the word. Practise using unfamiliar words in everyday conversation to help your child understand all the various meanings and to learn how to use the word in the correct context.
