Publisher's Synopsis
The transfer of the League of Nations mandate for Palestine to the United Kingdom in April 1920 marks the beginning of a Palestinian-Israeli architectural history that has so far been studied primarily with regard to the establishment of the Jewish state. This volume contains current research that deals with the transfer of building culture to Palestine/Israel and the formation of a national, non-religious identity as well as with the adaptation of European planning strategies and concepts to local conditions, taking into account the Arab perspective.
