Notes: Memoir of the final exploits and premature demise of Lord Byron, by his companion, the revolutionary Pietro Gamba (1801-27). Gamba was the brother of Byron's lover Theresa, Countess Guiccioli, and although initially opposed to Byron's involvement with his married sister, he was ultimately charmed. He accompanied Byron as secretary on his second expedition to Greece, and was present at his death in April 1824.
