Notes: The ownership inscription is that of the foreign correspondent, aged 21 and serving in the British Indian Army – he shortly after attended Magdalene College, Cambridge, before embarking on his distinguished career in journalism. Behr, in his own memoirs, called Waugh's 'Scoop' 'the best book ever written about the press' – and one that he read 'about once every two years' throughout his life.
