Collected Poems.

Read (Herbert)

Collected Poems.

Description: FIRST EDITION, some incredibly faint foxing to prelims and some pencil annotation to the essay 'What is a Poem?' at rear, pp. 286, crown 8vo, original blue cloth, backstrip lettered in gilt and slightly pushed at head, a little dustiness to top edge, a couple of pencil notes to flyleaf, dustjacket with hint of sunning to backstrip panel and a faint partial ring-mark to rear panel, very good

Publication Details: Faber and Faber, 1966

Notes: The first printing of the third of Read's 'Collected Poems' issued by Faber twenty years apart (there was also a new edition of the 1946 edition, in 1953); though the printing statement links it to its 1946 predecessor, it includes the two subsequent published collections and the previously uncollected 'Vocal Avowals'. It is the final collection of Read's poetry published in his lifetime, and the scarcest of the three editions of verse appearing under this title.
