Description: first edition, decorated black-on-white initials, few leaves just toned or slightly foxed to outer or lower blank margin, ff. 28, Roman letter, occasional Greek, 4to, contemporary or near contemporary (re-used?) limp vellum, remains of ties, laced in with two loop-tied secondary vellum tackets twisted inside (one partly detached but holding), all edges blue, lower cover a trifle soiled, very small crack and tiny worm hole to spine, illegible early inscription (price?) inked at head, c.1900 paper label with '901' at foot, and early ms. '294' inked to inner upper cover, 18thC(?) ms. 1751-44 inked to lower inner cover.

Notes: An excellent, clean, unsophisticated copy, in a very interesting contemporary binding, of the first edition of this scarce and most interesting work on Lutheran, Greek and Bohemian heresies, based on Greek sources. Nothing is known of Simeon Milantius Bilina. Only two other works by him are recorded, in one copy: an oration to the people of Vercelli, in Piedmont (Vercelli, 1543), and an epitaphium for the bishop of Ivrea (Rome, 1543), also the dedicatee of Contra haereticos.
