Notes: A scarce offprint, extending the considerations of the author's earlier statement, in his 'Uganda and the Egyptian Soudan', of 'the excessive preponderance of the females over the males' in the population of Uganda. Felkin was an early anthropologist, whose life balanced varied interests: a doctor specialising in childbirth and tropical medicine, he travelled widely, sometimes for missionary purposes, and later became eminent in the esoteric and occult circles - an interest that took him to Havelock North in New Zealand....more
