Notes: The half-title is inscribed by Henry Miller, who provides a 5pp. Preface to this edition, exhorting the bookseller and broadcaster Fred Bason to 'get the original text of my "Preface" from Claude Houghton and broadcast it during one of your television or radio talks', suggesting that doing so 'would create something of a sensation. It's really a greater book than you think - if you don't mind my saying so', before wishing him 'good luck! Henry Miller 7/17/54'.
