Notes: Uncommon. A major scholarly edition of the Leicestershire clergyman and Renaissance poet, a contemporary of Beaumont and Donne – and a 'controversial figure, capable of arrogance and even violence' (ODNB). The Editor was a Tutor at the University of Glasgow; in her Preface she acknowledges the help of C.S. Lewis of Magdalen College, Oxford, for giving 'various suggestions'.
