Description: First edition thus, Roman letter, with Italic. Woodcut title vignette; uncommon, charming woodcut headpiece, titled 'L'entrée de Versailles' and signed P. Mory with a view of the palace and main gates, woodcut initial and headpiece, title and last leaf minimally adhering to wrapper at gutter, title a trifle foxed along edges, minor paper flaw to lower blank margin of B2 and I2, the odd marginal spot, pp. 262 (ii), last blank, 8vo, a very good, clean copy in modern wrappers.

Notes: A very good, clean copy of the scarce first and only edition of the Italian translation of this intriguing anti-Jesuit pamphlet. It is one of several such works produced to berate the allegedly untrustworthy and morally lax religious Order after 1759, when the Jesuits were officially expelled from Portugal. This eventually led to the global Suppression of 1773.
