Notes: A nice copy, of a book whose materials of manufacture do not match the quality of its design - the latter particularly in respect of its featuring the only original dustjacket design by Jackson Pollock. The image in red and black on the front panel is sometimes listed as being by Max Ernst, the author's second husband (their parting is recounted towards the close of the book and they divorced in the year of publication): there is no obvious reason for this attribution - the credit 'Cover by Max Ernst' clearly appears next to the listing for Guggenheim's 'Art of this Century', which does indeed...more
