Notes: Inscribed by the author on the flyleaf, 'For Keith from his old chum Saul, Boston, Jan. 2002' Inscriptions from this late in the life of the Nobel Laureate are not common - the recipient here is novelist Keith Botsford; as Bellow's inscription indicates, he and Botsford formed a close association following their first meeting in the 1950s and collaborated in the editorship of a few literary magazines - including News From the Republic of Letters.
