Notes: Laid down to the flyleaf is a slip stating that the book had been 'Banned in Germany by Herr Himmler, Chief of Police and of the Protective Guards, on Sept. 23rd' – the origin of this addition is obscure, but it was perhaps the text of a wraparound band added for printings subsequent to that date (the present printing was from December in the year of its original publication), the marketing potential of the embargo having become evident.
