Description: FIRST EDITION, pp. xxiv, 120, crown 8vo, original red cloth, backstrip lettered in gilt, top edge yellow, publisher's review slip laid in, dustjacket with lightest of dustsoiling, near fine

Publication Details: Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner, 1930

Notes: A scarce edition, translations (the first such collection in English) of the Romanian national-poet, by Sylvia Pankhurst - who found in Eminescu 'a kindred spirit in dislike of contemporary decadence and social injustice' (Oxford Guide to Literature in English Translation, p. 215); her collaborator in the translation was a Romanian academic who made literal translations into English. A splendid copy - the dustjacket a rare attribute.
