Notes: Two editions of these two 'open letters' appeared in Venice, the present (without printer), and one printed by Vincenzo Valgrisi: neither narrows the date down beyond the year. The Valgrisi edition is a completely different setting, is in Roman type, and has the printer's device on the title: but the collation is the same. Giulio "Delminio" Camillo (ca. 1480–1544), best known for his L'Idea del Theatro (which, like all his works, was published posthumously) was a famous man in his time, though he did make enemies, Erasmus and Dolet among them.
