Description: with woodcut printer's device on title, numerous woodcut initials, headpieces, &c, text in double columns Greek and Latin, the Greek on the inside of the page, without the final blank, scattered spotting, occasional slight browning, mild water-staining in margins, only becoming really noticeable at the end in the lower fore-margins, title-page creased, and bit frayed at edges, with a couple of tears entering the page but not affecting text, pp. 845, [24, Index], [1, colophon], folio early seventeenth-century English calf, double blind ruled borders on sides, rebacked (a little crudely), a little worn at extremities, signature at head of title-page of Tho. Oporinus commissioned this translation form Stiblinus, in order to improve the Hervagius text, which it did; but was unfortunate to have been eclipsed by Melancthon's shortly after.It is a pity that there is no further evidence, other than the binding, of the book's arrival in England, within perhaps a half-century of its publication.Adams E1036: 6 copies in Cambridge, all lacking final blank.
