Notes: There were 3 editions. The second, 1859, was printed in Wakefield, the third, 1864, in Leeds. Leatham, 1828-1900, was the son of William Leatham of Heath near Wakefield, by his wife Margaret Walker, daughter and heiress of Joshua Walker, of York. The family was part of an influential Quaker community in Yorkshire. He was elected MP for Huddersfield in 1859 but gave up the seat in 1865, his politics heavily influenced by his brother-in-law John Bright.
