Notes: Pieter Bernagie (1656-1699) was a medical doctor, though it not known at which university he studied, and he published a few medical article. His passion however was for the theatre, and between 1684 and 1686 produced a dozen or so short plays, mainly farces, such as this. The vignette appears to represent a celestial game of Badminton: two racket wielding arms emerging from clouds, with a shuttlecock in flight between them. Rare.
