[8], 216, 4to, 18th-century German blue paper covered boards, rubbed, corners worn, textblock weak in one or two places

Notes: After the papal ban of the Babylon sonnets in 1595, printers were forbidden from including them in editions of Petrarch's Canzoniere, and it was expected that the sonnets would be eliminated from existing manuscripts and printed books. In this copy the 3 Babylonian sonnets are censored by means of a wash of black ink, probably inpenetrable at first, but now the text may just about be discerned (f. 142v, 143r, and 147v).
