Description: manuscript in ink on paper, text within ruled borders, in Latin and French, in a single neat and entirely legible hand, with a few contemporary side notes apparently not in the scribe's hand (i.e. a reader's), first title-page dust-soiled and with vestiges of wax in a spot at the foot, a modicum of dust-soiling elsewhere, ff. [iv], 122 (in ink up to 89, thereafter supplied later in pencil; including some blanks), 12 (last blank), 20 (last blank), 8 (last blank, 1 leaf folded in at fore-margin to accomodate side-notes), 14, 42 (last blank), 18 (last 3 blank), small 4to, green straightgrained green morocco (c. 1900) by Charles De Samblanx, double gilt fillets on sides enclosing a narrow vine leaf roll tool, spine with gilt rules on either side of raised bands, lettered in gilt direct, gilt inner dentelles, pink silk doublures and fly-leaves, the fly-leaves followed by an opening of marbled paper, gilt edges, slip-in case, hint of fading to spine, loosely inserted engraved armorial bookplate of the Dukes of Arenberg

Notes: A fine collection of alchemical texts, far neater than 'ebauche' might suggest, and made into a luxury object by bibliopegic finesse (the edges are gilt 'cigar box' style). The half-title of the long first part (largely in French) is numbered 1, fol. 91 is No. 2, the shorter pieces have their cahier numbers running from 7 to 12. The main text (ff. 1-58), by an anonymous writer, in French with some parts in Latin, is preceded by 'Visions hermétiques', a short poem by Nuisement, and illustrated with a 'hieroglyphic' diagram.
