Description: FIRST EDITION, title-page elaborately ruled in red, large woodcut tailpiece twice at end, a few minor paper flaws, pp. [iv], 269, 280- 304, [2], folio, contemporary Swedish sprinkled calf, spine gilt in compartments, red lettering piece (chipped), corners slightly worn, a very good copy, Macclesfield bookplate and blind-stamps

Notes: The first Old Norse dictionary by a non-Icelander, this copy probably belonged to William Jones, whose library included 'a large and remarkable collection of books on Linguistics, Dictionaries of all kinds' (Edwards, Libraries and Founders of Libraries 345). The title-pages of other Macclesfield books that came from him (Aleaume's Perspective, 1643, Mouton's Observationes, 1670) are similarly ruled in red.
