Description: with fine full-page woodcut printer's device on recto of first leaf, on the verso a full-page woodcut of the Crucifixion, initials supplied in blue and red, but some faded, washed, short marginal tear in g8 repaired, ff. [80] (sigs. a-k8), small 8vo, late nineteenth-century dark brown morocco by Petit Simier, sides decorated in blind with an all-over pattern of crosses, in alternate lines, Maltese on their own, or, more elaborate, in lozenges, spine lettered in gilt direct, gilt edges

Notes: The Praeceptorium is in fact by Henricus de Vrimaria (A. Zumkeller, Manuskripte von Werken der Autoren des Augustiner-Eremitenordens, 1966, p.325). Henricus de Vrimaria is also referred to as Frimaria, Freimaria and 'Heinrich von Freimar' (see GW). 'In and after 1491 [Pigouchet] used a device which depicts a wodewose and his mate supporting between them a shield, with the mongram PP surrounded by a maltese cross and streamer, suspended by a strap from a tree beaing fruit like pineapples' (BMC).
