Description: 2 pasts in 1 vol., with a fine impression of the copper engraving of the north side of the Sheldonian Theatre by Michael Burghers (dated 1700), 'Trigononometriæ planæ & sphæricæ elementa' has a separate title-page (dated 1731, with a woodcut view of the south side of the Theatre), pagination and register, with 2 folding engraved plates, occasional minor browning and the odd spot, recto of a3 and verso of a4 dust-soiled at fore-margin, pp. [viii], 230, [1, ads], 76, [3, ads], 8vo, contemporary sprinkled calf, spine gilt, red lettering piece, spine slightly lightened, excellent, calligraphic bookplate of Charles Benson

Notes: Euclid was of course a staple of the University Press. This is a very fine example, in Colquhoun-like condition. The 1701 edition of the Six books, did not have the Trigononometriæ planæ & sphæricæ elementa issued with it. However, it seems to have been standard practice to issue them together thereafter. The difference in the dates of the 2 title-pages are presumably the result of binding up volumes, with whatever editions lay to hand, as and when: the advertisements at the end of the second part include books published after 1715 (as well as before 1700).
