Description: a little damp-staining in the lower margins, pp. vi, 7-90, [6], 12mo, contemporary calf, double gilt fillets on sides, upper joint cracked (cords holding), partly darkened (through proximity to fire), small blob of some white substance on upper cover, fly-leaf inscribed 'Sarah Parker Her Book Given me by my Pappa, April 13, 1760',

Notes: This abridgement (as per the title) was first printed in 1734. Benjamin Franklin issued it in Philadelphia in 1744. The 11th (London) edition appeared in 1792, and there was a Charleston edition in 1796. All of the 18th-century editions are rare, the present edition recorded in ESTC at BL and General Theological Seminary only. Sarah Parker was a descendant of Joseph Parker, Isaac Watts's amanuensis (purchased from the family).
