Notes: The early to mid-19th-century saw numerous Psalm books published in Preston. This particular version is not in COPAC. Trinity Church (demolished in 1951: the site is now a car park) was built in 1816, and this is perhaps the first Psalms printed for use therein. The author of the anonymous Preface is stern. The state of psalmody in general is bemoaned ('this ordinance [of psalm singing] of God is fallen into neglect and contempt ... [due to] improper choice of passages'.
